recipe for disaster
man oh man. so today i get home and most of the day i've been thinking bout stuff, like the fact that it'd be nice if God sent some pesa my way for very important reasons which i won't go into...or the fact that everyone around me seems to be getting a wave, i mean literally saturated in offers of admission for grad school...then i think how i need to go grocery shopping and how the account is just poverty.com. well with all that i was just despondent. i even met an old french prof. who asked me how i was doing and how my french class was and i said it's difficult b/c other people speak better than me. and i was like yikes how negative can i get today. it is actually a very nice class...love the prof and love the content....though saying stuff is a bit tricky sometimes. i guess that's part of learning.
anyway, in addition i watched this french documentary for my class which was a BIG eye opener. it's called the gleaner and i . basically talks about how a lot of stuff goes to waste...and how people collect food from garbage dumps b/c life is hard and that's all they can do for food. and it's great food really. other pple just don't see that and throw it away. and it was really amazing coz there's this one guy who got a masters in bio, and what he does for a living is sells newspapers. he eats leftovers from the market place and lives in a shelter. BUT he spends his time teaching french to the pple in the shelter...grammar etc...mostly senegalese and malians. i mean he has nothing, or very little but he's still giving something of himself.
alright, so with my future and my situation in mind and the situation of such people in the documentary who are very much alive in this world today i was just feeling :p. so i came back home and did what i normally do when i feel that way, which is cook. figured i'd make cookies. ginger cookies. funny thing is that they turned out to be the worst cookies i have ever tasted in my entire life. talk about poison. exceptionally bitter. i must have added the wrong spice by mistake or just too much of it...something definitely wrong. have to throw all of em away.
what's the moral of the story?
1) even more good food than stated is wasted because of accidents like these where the food just doesn't turn out right?
2) i really should be fasting...
3) maybe it's like the manna from heaven gone bad.
4) life is bittersweet...i just haven't got to the sweet part yet.
5) i really don't know. there just should be a light at the end of this tunnel which if i may borrow is not an oncoming train.
6) when you can, send out a prayer so help me God.
7) i'm still God's favorite?
8) tsk tsk indeed.
I really am NOT God's Favourite Kid
This realisation dawned on me a couple of weeks ago but I've been away from the blog mush longer than that. So I'll give you a brief summary on how I came to this conclusion and my life since...
I was reading the bible one evening and it so happens I was reading about making God a liar. You knwo the verse if you say you have no sin them you make God out to be a liar. And I thought about many home truths in the bible for me, and how many I had actually acknowledged as being true in my life.Until I believed he loved me I made a liar out on Him by thinking he didn't. etc
So I was thinking of all the things I say and found that I keep telling people I am God's favourite Kid.But you know what we are all God's favoutrite. ALl the apple of his eye and he has no preferrences. We are all the same.
When I started seeing it all that way my perspective on other people has changed. I mean al always believed everyone deserves teh best in life but with my I'm God's fav attitude in a subtle way I thought people who I didn't like didn't deserve it as much. Now I felt challenged to expect the best even for people i din't think deserve it. Since then I have got a promotion, a raise a peaceful house and just more overall peace and you all know peace is essential.
I also realised inspite of the fact that indeed I am still the apple of God's eye his grace being all sufficient for me doesnt' mean I take advantage pof it. SO yeah when I learn I have to get responsible too.
SO last weekend i had a decision to make. Fairly basic do I or don't I go on this outing with my company...so you knkow i ask that inner mand who has so far guided me to my present situation and I have this really huge nagging feeling inside that I should not go. Inspite of this and my very not good to go situation ie no phone and no debit card I went. HAd agood time no doubt but ended up in a car accident. I felt like Jonah must've felt just before he got in the whales belly. I mean how can my disobidience cause so mush stress. Thankfully I was the only one hurt. Well the car and I and while everyone was wondering how I was mangaing to stay so calm I knew in my heart I was learning a lesson and in spite of it all it felt good to be in that situation It felt good to experience God's gracea again. That in spite of my disobedience I had my life spared. Well I still feel like God's fav kid so ...go figure...
