it does matter if your black or white
so i watched lumumba today...another one of those painful realizations about what is left out of the history syllabi in schools and what you have to discover for yourself. seems like straightout brainwashing if you ask me...learn about everyone else except yourself.
goodness. then there are all these people who've died and shed blood...i mean in the name of "one day there will be a brighter future for africans"....and i can barely see by the candle light....well something brighter is coming..
i just wish, it was a whole lot easier. i wish people didn't see development for what it is in the west...i wish "the west" wasn't a freakin' standard for everything. i wish our smart leaders would not seek to divide but to unite. i wish we could just stop the bloody carnage and think for once that if we're killing each other, honestly there's nothing in it. i wish our leaders weren't just smart, i wish they had hearts too, then maybe they wouldn't just think about themselves...i wish, to quote a man above me, that good leadership wasn't based on how much aid a country receives...in short i wish we weren't just plain stupid sometimes. how do you kill the people that are fighting for what the country needs the most? how do you side with people who just want to exploit you? nonsense..
there are many things i wish as you can see. maybe i should change this to "i want." i don't know whether i'll ever be a lumumba or a kwameh...or as the west only knows, mandela...but hey, if you're reading this...i think i've had enough ooing and ahhing about what the west has to offer. what do we have to offer?
maybe it's about time that the future our people fought and died for started coming alive. it shouldn't take a junguu with a red cross sign carrying an african kid...i mean where are we? enough said. i think we owe it to ourselves to do something. but the choice is simply yours. some people wait for africa to be ready for them, some people realize that africa is ready...
oh well...for me i pray that this doesn't stop here. i'll leave with a quote from the film to a western man...
"the hand that gives is the hand that rules, and your hand has been pretty heavy lately..."
